Finally…a Pilates Program designed just for musicians!

Hello and welcome! My name is Luciana, I’m a professional cellist and international Pilates instructor passionate about helping musicians reconnect with their bodies so that they can improve their comfort while playing and enjoy long lasting careers. I’m originally from Argentina; I came to the US to pursue my music education and on the way I found Pilates, or rather Pilates found me, and this is how Pilates for Musicians was born.

The Joy of Movement and the Joy of Making Music

Pilates is an exercise method developed by Joseph H. Pilates (1883-1967), who originally named it “Contrology”, referring to the complete coordination of body, mind and spirit.

Learning Pilates is very similar to learning a musical instrument. At first you learn movements in a very controlled way, and overtime those movements help you develop a natural rhythm and coordination that is reflected in any activity you do in life, from walking to playing an instrument. To express music freely we need to first acquire complete control of our bodies.

There is no religion associated with Pilates, and the spirit component is simply the joy of movement — when you connect your mind to your body and you infuse breath into each movement, your spirits lift, your mood improves and you feel inspired to tap into your creative self.

Pilates Beyond the Practice Room

Pilates is so much more than a quick fix or a finite set of exercises to help prevent injuries. While Pilates can help musicians reduce their risk of injuries, by improving posture and function and rebalancing musculature, Pilates offers a movement education and movement exploration that can be carried and sustained through life. Pilates goes beyond functional movement, it offers movement potential which can impact your quality of life and help you enjoy movement outside the practice room.
